6 Tips to Help Tackle Spring Cleaning

While most Americans are happy to say goodbye to winter this year, ushering in spring has its own set of challenges, including the age-old tradition of tackling spring cleaning chores. At Libman, we are ready for the task and have some tips to help get you ready as well.

1. Clean window screens

Remove and take it outside. Lay it flat on a piece of cloth or old carpet. Using a soft-bristled brush like the Libman Shaped Duster Brush, wash it with a mild detergent. Rinse it off with a hose and let it dry in the sun.

2. Remove crayon marks from walls

Cover the crayon mark with toothpaste, let set for 30 minutes, then wipe clean with a Libman Microfiber Sponge Cloth or All Purpose Sponge.

3. Clean painted walls:

Combine1/2 cup of household ammonia, 1 teaspoon of hand dishwashing soap and 1 gallon of warm water. Soak your Libman Gator Mop in the solution, wring out, and wash your walls from the bottom up. Change the cleaning solution as it gets dirty and rinse the bucket with water to prevent the walls from streaking.

4. Get rid of mildew around the refrigerator door seal

Use a 1 to 1 solution of hydrogen peroxide and water. For easy cleaning, put solution in a spray bottle, spray on and let soak for 30 minutes. On stubborn stains use a soft-bristled scrub brush like the Libman Small Scrub Brush. Rinse with vinegar and water solution and allow to completely dry.

5. Clean and deodorize the inside of a refrigerator

Make a natural solution of 3 tablespoons baking soda to one quart warm water. Wipe dry with a delicate Libman China & Glass Sponge.

6. Get to the dirt deep in your carpet

Use your Libman Wide Angle Broom to “sweep” your carpet thoroughly before vacuuming. The broom fibers will dig down into the carpet, moving dirt to the surface.
