Co-Shipping Supervisor

Shift: M-F 6a-4:30p (with ability to work additional hours and Saturday based on shipping needs)

SUMMARY

Oversee and maintain the day-to-day operations of the shipping department in order to meet company and customer demands. Lead and direct all levels of pickers to maintain desired efficiencies on order picking and daily outbound shipment demand. Help control internal department processes as well as company policies, to help meet Management demands. Be reliable, accountable, and have appropriate supervisory skills in order to hold other employees accountable.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Direct all levels of pickers to meet company efficiencies and customer demands.
  • Direct all dock activity in order to assure efficiency and accuracy of all daily shipments.
  • Complete routine dock inspections for Safety and 5S.
  • Oversee Forklift certification and Re-certification for warehouse pickers.
  • Monitor and oversee Drop Trailer Program which includes maintaining yard truck operations.
  • Ensure customer specific requirements are being met for each shipment:
  • Support a proactive safety environment, with emphasis on good housekeeping.
  • Providing all new product Shipping Ti-Hi measurements.
  • Prepare, evaluate and maintain employee reviews.
  • Responsible for warehouse efficiencies based on WMS KPI’s.
  • Resolve employee complaints and problems. Issue discipline, if needed.
  • Work with receiving to share manpower needed to unload containers in an efficient manner.
  • Training of all new employees on Warehouse Management System (JDA)
  • Recommend, implement and support Continuous Improvement within the department and the company to improve quality, productivity, safety, efficiency, and cost reduction.
  • Other duties as assigned.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

Employee must be able to lift, carry, push or pull up 50 pounds. Employee must have the ability to complete the following repetitive tasks. Percent involved in each applicable activity is noted:

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILL REQUIREMENTS

  • Minimum of five years supervisory experience preferred.
  • Minimum of five years of distribution and warehousing experience.
  • Stronger Supervisory and Management Skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills.
  • Strong math skills.
  • Ability to complete routine, standard paperwork as required.
  • Computer proficiency. Knowledge of Warehouse Management, Inventory Control, or MRP systems a plus.
  • Ability to function independently and multi-task in a fast-paced environment.
  • Multi-lingual (Spanish and English) helpful, but not required.
  • Willing and able to operate a forklift as needed.
  • Strong work ethic.
  • Cooperative demeanor when performing assigned tasks.
