With all the salt, snow, and mud that gets tracked throughout your home, winter can be tough on your floors. But don’t break out those kneepads and scrub brushes just yet. No matter what type of floors you have in your home, there’s a Libman tool and a cleaner for you.
Preventative Care
Keeping your floors clean doesn’t have to be a massive task. Keeping up on them daily will make your big clean that much easier. A few simple things you can do:
- Vacuuming once a week will help you track less dirt throughout the house.
- Encourage your family and your guests to kick off their shoes as soon as they enter your home.
- Clean crumbs and spills as you go. This creates less of a chance of insects or rodents invading your home.
Hardwoods
To reveal the beauty of your hardwoods, use the Libman Microfiber Wet & Dry Mop and Libman Hardwood Floor Everyday Cleaner. For added shine, swap out the cleaner for Libman Hardwood Floor Polish and Protector. Avoid a wet mop, and instead use a slightly damp mop. High-traffic areas, like the kitchen, should be cleaned once a week; less-trafficked areas can be mopped once a month.
Carpet
A vacuum is the way to go with any type of carpeting. We recommend vacuuming at least once a week; once every two weeks for low-trafficked areas. If you have a toddler or a curious pet, double that number. A hot tip for pet owners: the Libman Window Squeegee works like a champ to lift stubborn pet hair from carpeting. Run the squeegee along the surface of the carpet while applying a little bit of pressure, and you’ll see clumps of hair rise to the surface. (This works great on upholstery, too.)
Laminate
The Libman Freedom® Spray Mop and the Concentrated Multi-Surface Floor Cleaner work wonders on laminate flooring. It’s so easy to just spray and go that this is something you could use during your daily cleaning routine. These same products could also be used on tile, vinyl, linoleum, and a variety of other floor surfaces.
Tile
The microfiber grippers on the Libman Wonder® Mop work hard to get into the cracks and crevices of a tiled floor. Combine that with the cleaning power of the Libman Multi-Surface Everyday Floor Cleaner, and your tile will be sparkling in no time. Tile is most commonly found in bathrooms and kitchens, and these areas should be cleaned at least once a week. Every two months detail the floor with the Libman Tile & Grout Brush for a deep scrub.
