Summary
Responsible for preventative maintenance and operation of facility infrastructure and equipment and grounds.
Primary Responsibilities
- Operation, PM, and corrective maintenance of the facility infrastructure, including but not limited to:
- HVAC - exhaust fans, heating units, supply fans, louvers, ceiling fans, air conditioning units
- Plumbing and plumbing fixtures
- Compressed air system
- Chillers and pumps
- Grounds maintenance
- Lighting
- Man and overhead doors
- Dock levelers and dock locks
- Must perform corrective maintenance or repairs, preventative maintenance, and cleaning on assigned facility equipment or areas during operation and/or shutdown, ensuring they are mechanically and electrically ready for operation
- Record all work performed on machines and equipment in accordance with the established standards in Avantis and/or as outlined by the Facility Manager
- Must comply with safety regulations and follow all safety procedures to prevent hazards and damage to equipment and people
- Understand and be proficient in lockout/tagout procedures
Additional Responsibilities
- Display a positive attitude in day-to-day interactions with peers and supervisors and display attributes of a team player that helps his or her teammates
- Multi-task and prioritize daily to complete assigned work
- Provide management with information on safety and reliability of machines and equipment and identify opportunities for improvement
- May be required to train with and work alongside outside contractors
- Maintain attendance according to company policy
- Overtime, weekend, and holiday work is mandatory when required
- Perform other duties as assigned by Supervisor or Manager
Safety
- Maintain a clean and safe working environment in the facility through good housekeeping practices
- Follow all safety and OSHA guidelines
Knowledge and Skill Requirements
- Degree and/or certificate in college or vocational school with focus on mechanical or electrical field preferred
- Knowledge of PLCs, AC and DC drives, and automated machinery preferred
- Experience using fabrication and workshop equipment and hand tools (e.g., drills, grinders, lathe, mill, drill press, band saw, welder, forklifts, etc.)
- Knowledge and ability to use a broad range of hand tools to perform maintenance work on facility and related equipment
- Installation, troubleshooting, and preventive maintenance of industrial equipment
- Must be able to read and understand electrical schematics and work from drawings, equipment manuals, verbal instructions, or sketches
- Must be able to use JLG and scissor lift for working in and around ceilings and running equipment
- Basic troubleshooting abilities
- Communicate effectively; bilingual a plus
- Must be able to work with a sense of urgency
- Computer literacy
Physical Demands
- Employee must be able to carry, push, and pull up to 50 pounds. Employee must also be able to lift up to 75 pounds
- Must be able to work in uncomfortable positions, including sitting, kneeling, and lying down, and be able to work from ladders and lifts
Working Conditions
- Working conditions are normal for a manufacturing environment. Requires the use of safety equipment that may include but is not limited to: eye safety glasses, hearing protection, and hardhats. Jewelry is not permitted
Compensation
$27/hr; Non-Exempt
